No Meat on Fridays. No Thank You.

March 18, 2008

The catholic church says that during lent meat is not to be eaten on Friday. Most catholics follow this rule blindly but i call bullshit on the church. This rule is completely unreasonable and even the Pope is admitting it. This is an ancient rule and is completely outdated and makes no sense.

Everyone in my family follows this and when i come home on Friday night, after a long day at work, i want a nice juicy steak. I do not want to settle for fish or pizza. No! I want to eat meat and i am not willing to stop eating meat just to please the catholic church when the Pope is willing to admit that this rule is bogus.

What i mean when i say that the Pope is willing to admit that this rule is bogus is that a couple years ago when St. Patrick’s Day fell on a Friday during Lent, the Pope permitted  the eating of meat for this day so the Irish can have their corned beef.  If the Pope hadn’t done this i might be willing to follow the no meat on Fridays rule, but because of this exception that the Pope permitted i believe that this rule  is ridiculous.  You either have to be willing to be consistent with your rules or just get rid of them completely.  I am very sick of the Catholic Church being so hypocritical.

I’m tired of being reminded every time i indulge in a juicy cheeseburger on Fridays in Lent that you can’t eat meat on Friday’s.  One day this rule will be abolished and there will no longer be this problem of people disagreeing with foolish rules.  Until then i will continue to enjoy my delicious meats on Friday without any remorse.  Hopefully you now realize the nonsense that is the no meat on Friday’s rule.  You are more than welcome to use this argument when you are enjoying your roast beef melt next Friday and you are harassed by everyone.  Good luck.

Business Law . . . Gay!

March 18, 2008

Business law is a terrible class.  It’s not really business and it’s not really law.  It’s like someone just wanted to mess with St. Johns students and make it a core class.  They decided to make it like a graduate course as well.  Along with having to memorize the constitution, we also have to know all of New York’s laws along with the federal laws.  To expect out of students in a core class to possess the knowledge of a law major is ridiculous.  Accompanying this course is a midterm and final.  The midterm was already taken and consisted of 100 multiple choice questions, all of which were unreasonably specific involving unimportant laws which are never even dealt with.  After a class average of a 52 one would think that the teacher would curve the test or offer extra credit.  But no.  Some teachers remain stubborn and set in their ways and as a result will produce a class with 60% of the students failing.  Business law is just a bad class overall and unnecessarily hard.
